Ground Height and Weighing

Adjusting ride height and weight percentages when jack screws aren't allowed is as much fun as watching paint dry. Everyone knows how much trouble it is to jack the car up and take out or add shims between the springs and chassis. The easy way - First, check the air pressure and tire size and disconnect the swaybar and top off all fluids. Collect some plywood of different thicknesses; 3/4,1/2, 3/8, 1/4, 1/8. These will need to be about 12" x 12" squares and will be used to adjust the ride height and weight on each wheel by placing them between the tire and scales. Now put the car on the scales and check ground height . It might be less confusing if you cut a piece of wood to the height of your scales as this will represent ground height. Adjust heights first and weights second, remember you can't change front to rear or left to right weights, you can only change the diagonal weight after you have the heights and weights that you desire. Trim or adjust front spacers, add or remove rear spacers. Spacers may be made of steel, aluminum or plastic; You can be creative - I have even seen steel water pump pulleys used on the rear for spacers. We sell front spacers both adjustable and nonadjustable that you trim to size and for the rear, steel 1/8" shims.
